Lifechaingers is a Utrecht-based company building Bobbai — an AI-powered speech app for people who have difficulty speaking but can still read and make minimal conscious movement (e.g. a finger, hand, foot, or eyes).
What Bobbai does: Bobbai listens to an ongoing conversation, understands the context, and instantly generates relevant, personalized response suggestions. The user selects a suggestion with a tap, eye movement, or click, and Bobbai speaks it aloud in a natural voice. The user is always in control — AI suggests, never decides.
Who it's for: People with acquired brain injury (ABI), ALS, MS, aphasia, speech apraxia, CP, or advanced Parkinson's — as well as their caregivers and healthcare professionals.
Key differentiators vs. traditional AAC devices:
- Context-aware, real-time AI suggestions (no need to look up letters/words manually)
- Works on any device (tablet, smartphone, laptop — bring-your-own-device)
- Compatible with eye-tracking hardware (Tobii Dynavox, Jabbla, Smartbox, iPad)
- Fully encrypted, GDPR-compliant, data stored within Europe
- Personality and communication style can be trained over time
